Background
Fareham Borough Council manages a wide range of properties in Hampshire, including Portchester, Stubbington, Hill Head, Titchfield, Warsash, Locks Heath, Salisbury and part of Whiteley. Additionally, Fareham Borough Council also acts in partnership with, and as advisors to, the New Forest District Council and the Basingstoke and Deane, Eastleigh, and Rushmoor Borough Councils.
Temple Lifts has, for a long period, been maintaining lifts for Fareham Borough Council. We were asked to participate in an open tendering process for a framework agreement to extend our lift maintenance services, to include additional councils that were already working with Fareham Borough Council.
Our Approach and Solution
Key issues for the Council included the cost, but also, importantly, if the service provider assisted with unbiased and open book advice about lift service life expectancy and potential problems. Fortunately, Temple Lifts has an established history with the council on both counts and, shortly after our tender submission, we were awarded the maintenance framework agreement with the council. As mentioned above, many of lifts are installed in occupied residential properties and our local directly employed engineers take extra care to ensure that noise and disruption are kept to a minimum.
The Result
Following on from the contract award, Temple Lifts has been maintaining a significant number of lifts located in commercial and residential buildings across the very large area covered by this group of councils.
Additionally, one of the key areas for Fareham Borough Council is to maintain the lifts in the council’s own offices and ensure that the reliability of all of the lifts, particularly those carrying passengers, is always first class.
