Lift Modernisation at 40 Grosvenor Place.
The Temple Lifts Major Projects Team have recently started a lift modernisation project at 40 Grosvenor Place, a prestigious commercial building in Belgravia which overlooks part of Buckingham Palace’s enclosed gardens.
The building, known simply as 4ORTY, was designed by HOK Architects and completed in 1999, following the demolition of the original building. The 6-storey plus basement building has a stylish central atrium and part-glazed roof with a stepping section at the rear. The atrium houses 4 scenic lifts which are remaining as they are at present.
Temple Lifts were commissioned to modernise four lifts, two passenger & goods carrying and two fully-specified fireman’s lifts.
The contract award was given to Temple Lifts after detailed competitive tendering and lift surveys that had taken place along with site meetings with the client’s consultants.
As with all projects that Temple Lifts undertake in occupied buildings, our primary focus is to ensure inconvenience to the occupants and visitors is kept to a minimum throughout the modernisation period. We are also staggering our works to maintain lift availability.
